Click here to view a time-lapse video shows the St. Anthony School 3D printer in action creating a hollow cube. In the spring of 2012, the 8th graders learned to use 3D modeling software in preparation for designing a medicine carrier for a STEM unit, "Amazon Mission." This students then send the desgin to a 3D printing preparation software which readies the design for the MakerBot Replicator 2 for printing.
The photo on the left is the finished product of one group's engineered design of a carrier for anti-malarial medicine to be delivered to a group of indigenous people in the Amazon Rainforest. The photo on the right shows other items made with the 3D printer. A few of them are scaled down prototypes of student designs' for the medicine carrier.
